MEXICOWANDERER

That little HF charger will support 11 amps at 16.0 volts. It is about it's limit with the VARIAC maxxed out, and like I pointed out in a post a few months back you have to keep your eye on the charger and not try this on a broiling summer day.
CURE: Buy a 10 watt 12 volt muffin fan, undo the twelve phillips head screws on the charger, take the cover off, connect power wires to the two points that the charger's battery wires bolt to, reinstall the cover and awwwwway you go. Ten watts isn't going to drain a battery fast at all. If you're antsy buy the meanest largest 120 volt muffin fan you can find that'll fit and it'll bulge the sides out on the charger. Have a ball. 120 fan serves as a power alert. When you hear the roar, you've got power. You ever see the "fan" inside a wheel charger? They are a child's toy -- a joke, like a beanie with the propeller on top. A dirt cheap muffin fan is serious and eternal if you choose one with ball rather than sleeve bearings. That image of my charger? Well my BIG charger has 1,300 CFM of fans. The exhaust fan will blow your ball cap off at 10 feet.
