Trojan does not manufacture run-of-the-mill batteries.
Here we gots a BMW for $45,000 dollars
And a Yugo for twelve dollars
Which one is the better value?
Heavy boondocking use is a different universe than Power-Post Plug-In-Princess duty. If you are a casual, weekender, there is nothing wrong with an ordinary battery. On the opposite side is an individual whose life suffers greatly if a battery goes belly-up. I'd much rather spend more money for a battery that refuses to fail in a six year period of usage than one that costs half as much that has a 10-year warranty and is almost guaranteed to need two or three replacements. Such decisions are personal and shouldn't be criticized.
Here's something to chew on.
With -genuine- off grid use, the mark of a quality battery should be, "over it's lifespan how hard was it to recover the battery to an equalized state in all cells?". Some batteries should be labelled "----- incorporated". The Trojan, Rolls and a select few other good batteries are easier to equalize and they stay equalized much longer than lesser price-tag oriented specials.
