Use a Western Digital MyCloud drive?

https://betanews.com/2018/01/07/western-digital-mycloud-backdoor/

These drives connect to the Internet through network cable or WiFi.

It's been published the drives have a hard coded unchangeable username and password, that has only recently been fixed.

Not only are your files at risk, but also the rest of your personal network. The WD can provide a Linux shell to be used to explore and otherwise attack other devices inside your network firewall.

Yep. "Technology" forum. Not "Technical issues".

  • For a NAS, I recommend a Synology model and two drives. They use Linux and are decently secure, but quite easy to use and get around with.
  • I have one that I use for a dlna server. It is not on the net and the only thing on it is music.
