A few days pre eclipse, as I was travelling north to meet it with 6 year old tires, I felt a squeamishness from the back end.
Slowing down for a rest area in the middle of nowhere it felt like there was an earthquake as the whole vehicle was rocking side to side.
My IR gun revealed both back tires were 180f+, and they smelled, and looked groosly overinflated. One front tire was also 170+. It proved to be out of round. The one tire which was still OK was 120.
With the nearest town 80 miles away, I limped there at 50 to 55mph where all vibrations stopped, with 3 bad tires, and found them at 190F+, and the one good one at 115f. 2 of the tires had grown about 2 inches in height and were as round as donuts.
