Since the house batteries are one alternator, the chassis on another, they have no contact with each other. I plan to keep them this way, just so an electrical fault with the RV part won't affect the engine or drivetrain.
OK 500w solar might be a bit much for a B. However plenty of truck campers find space for 100 to 200 watts. May seem small compared to a 200+ amp alternator but the solar works anytime the sun is shining. The time adds up.
