Solder v/s crimp.. I have worked on many old 45+ year old cars, Beetles especially. The crimped connections of the wires are oxidized. Cut the lug connector off and strip the wire back 3" and the wire will be black with oxidization! Take a look inside of an ancient tv or 40's military radio. Soldered wires are still good, no bad connections. But open up that old Saphire am radio, soldered connections and the radio still works after 50+ years.
Crimping a lug onto a wire one will encounter an issue with dissimilar metals... Tell me that is not an issue!
I have in my naval air life trouble shot a few electrical harness problems in my life... CRIMPS. Poor mfg quality work. Too tight crimp, too loose are just sitting there and sooner or later there is going to be a problem.
