Last time I did that type of job, I found it much easier and cheaper to buy some copper tubing to fit the cable and made my own lugs. They were over kill too but they didn't have to be done a second time.
Soldered them first and then mashed the lug flat in a vice. It was easier than trying to crimp it tight enough and then wondering if it was good enough.
