After careful consideration of everyone's replies and generosity I believe I'm going to sell my current panels anywhere from 50 to $0.75 a watt. Maybe I can recoup some costs from selling all 8 and purchase the proper panels for my current setup. I have already bought the solar controller so I don't see it being beneficial to return it and try to purchase something more expensive for a weekend type camping situation.
Giving up already? To bad, it's a cool test idea that I believe would work just fine and if you have the room I would use at least 5 panels with the Bogart system. I have this system and if you think absorption is important to battery health, then you will find that this system Is well thought out.
I would suggest that you get a hold of Ralph Hiesey at Bogart engineering to get this question answered. Please inform us if you change you mind.
Since I have the panels I am going to mock them up and see what kind of amperage I can get out of them. I did talk with Ralph and he said his controller will work, but like what has been said here it will limit the panels potential.
Well look at the positive side. In the future if you feel you need more watts you could get a cheap MPPT controller and move a couple of panels. This way more amps and the benefits of a finishing charge from the Bogart system.
