Water Pump Leaking

Howdy. My 2015 Passport 2920BH Seems to have a leak in the water pump. It's leaking from the seam down the middle of the white pump casing. the trailer was winterized with RV antifreeze so I don;t think it's a crack issue. the leak is small but enough the pump does not shut off.

Should I try to repair it or just replace?

If replace do a direct replacement or upgrade?

If upgrade any recommendations that have those quick DC's on them to make install and removal easy?
  • This may not be the same problem and fix, but I had a leak about the same place in my TT this past weekend. It was only the second time I had it out as I bought it in Jan this year. No leaks the first time so why now? I borrowed a pressure regulator (set to 45psi) from a neighbor and and hooked up again. Could hardly believe it but no leaks since. Apparently the RV lot had very high water pressure. I am doing some other maintenance this week, so will be checking every day.
  • Unless you 'put the antifreeze into your fresh water tank' and pumped it thru out the coach. Yes it could be cracked from frozen water left in the pump.

The only way any and 'all' the water left in water pump is treated is by putting the antifreeze in the fresh tank and pumping it thru the pump. I lived where temps went 'well below freezing' which is why I did it that way,

Either way I would replace it. IMHO Not worth jury rigging it and having it break down on the road later on.
  • Mark area of leak

    Disassembly pump housing

Leak from pump housing flange or from casing

From flange ----reseal (new gasket, new o-ring, tube sealant etc)

    From casing...new pump
  • Given the tremendous amount of damage an undetected drip can cause over time, I would not attempt any repairs on the housing itself.
    I would replace it.

When mine did this I took it apart and cleaned the diaphragm inside and tried to reseal it by just re torquing the bolts, that did not work so I applied a silicone adhesive at the parting plane and that worked. It was a simple fix.
