Water Pump Problem

I have had good information in the past from this site and would like to try again for your expertise. My water pump is not drawing water from my water tank. I know the pump is working because i disconnected the water pump input hose and successfully drew water from a gallon of water. The water tank is full of water, the hot water tank is full of water and the city connection works(which shouldn't have anything to do with my problem). I replaced a bad hot water relief valve. Faucets are open ... air and water comes out.
Installed a new water pump yesterday ... still have the problem. Next, replace all fittings and hoses that I can get to.

Thanks
  • Problem fixed. I want to thank everyone that helped. There was a small leak in the hose from the water tank to the pump that was leaking air. There is a hole in the fabric under the slide-out that runs the lengh of the slide, I believe that the water hose was rubbing the floor when the slide-out was being opened and closed. Hose fixed but I'm not sure how to fix the fabric.
  • Check the filter that sits between pump and FW tank (often screwed into one end of the pump). In my rig the plastic shavings left over from installing the FW tank were left inside the tank and eventually plugged the filter.
  • As simple as it sounds, could your "fill, drain, use" valves be set improperly?
  • Sounds like a clog in the outlet from the water tank. You might try back flushing with water or air. Be sure to open your fill cap.

The back flush may only loosen whatever is causing the clog and the clog will happen again if you don't cleanout the tank.

I've heard of a couple of reasons for clogs... mostly it's particles in the tank leftover from the manufacturing process (scraps of plastic from drilling holes for the fittings, saw dust or dirt).
  • Might try blowing some compressed air into the water tank from the water pump intake hose. Possibly an obstructed water pickup screen in the tank?
