Water pump problem

I am dumbfounded as to why the following occurres.... Water pump will pulse and when it does my TV will sometimes only sometimes lose picture for a split second.
Also if I'm running my generator charging my batteries when I run the water it will pulse my generator along with the pulse of the pump. Thanks in advance for any help. Don't know if I have a bad pump going bad or a ground possibly?? Let me know .
  • I'm going to get one then I've seen em before and thought about it. Thanks a lot hope it helps
  • Trav, do you have an accumulator on your water pump? When I added one to mine, my lights stopped flickering -- I think because the accumulator evened out the amount of power used by the pump to get going.

Maybe the accumulator will help your television, too -- kind of like buffering, right?? ;)
  • My converter is brand new and solid. Progressive dynamics 4060kv mighty mini. And I don't know if that's it because it happens when I'm using the TV but not the antenna and the light off. It just seems that it's sucking power when I turn the pump on when it pulses it pulses my lights etc. How would I find a bad ground or open ? Do I have to check everything appliance every 12 volt light etc in my walls ?

Sorry for the delayed response. I should also mention my lights will sometimes pulse with the water pump. That is for help guys but what's an ant. Amp. ?

That's that button on your antenna wall plate that turns the roof top antenna booster on. UNPLUG the RV from 120 and turn off the Genset. Then do your test with the lights. IF they pulse, then the odds are you have a loose connection at the 12 volt fuse panel. Make sure the 12 volt wires to the fuse panel are tight. THEN, pull each fuse and note if the fuse releases very easily. The fuse should be slightly tight. IF not, there is your loose connection. IF an ATC fuse, bend the fuse prongs slightly to get a tighter fit. IF the problem goes away when you do the test above, then the odds are the Power Converter may have loose wires or the Power Converter has a fault under load. Doug

  • I wonder if it's on the same circuit as your ant. amp. and the voltage drop is causing it to drop off for those few seconds.
  • Well Teechers,

It is unlikely that it is water pump problem.
It is very likely that it is a bad connection in your DC system.
Start by taking junctions apart and cleaning and reassembling them.

  • TV is it 12 or 120 volts?
My first guess is something shorting to geound. Maybe a bad battery, bad converter, or an open in the system.
