I see there is a handpump available to push RV antifreeze into the RV using the city water connection. Does this not leave the water pump unprotected since there should be a functional one way valve p...

Add a winterizing kit to your pump if it is accessible enough for you to do it. It hooks up in line with the tank suction line and has a valve you can turn to draw antifreeze out of the jug and into your water lines. Just open a faucet and turn on the pump. easy.
