The check valve is part of the city water inlet assembly.
Check valve stops rv water from backflowing into city water supply (required) but it's real job is to close and allow water pump to pressurize rv plumbing
It is a plastic plunger with spring and o-ring. O-ring gets dislodged and it will not seal or plunger gets cocked
Remove washer/screen.......
With pump off and pressure relieved on cold water side (open a faucet) sometimes you can reset if just plunger by pushing tip of plunger in (from outside of rv) and then let spring push it back into place.
If o-ring is dislodged..have to remove city water assembly, disconnect water line and then remove 'c' clip that holds plunger in place and pull internals out.
BUT those check valves are junk.....
So I didn't want to mess with it
I installed a brass garden hose 90* fitting on city water connection and then installed a garden hose shut-off valve to the 90* fitting. Used the rubber cab that was on city water on the shut-off
Been on my city water connection and on my black tank flush connection for 7 yrs...no more issues with check valve failure PLUS water hoses hang straight down when connected
