Water Softener Storage

I recently purchased and took on a trip a 'On The Go' water softener. It worked great.

After I got back, I followed the instructions for regeneration. At the bottom, it said that you should drain the water for storage. Then is says that after extended storage, you need to do the whole thing over again. The problem is, it doesn't define 'extended storage'.

A week? More?

I think it was 'Old Biscuit' that recommended back-flushing for a couple of minutes after transporting the unit drained. I was wondering how long I can store the unit drained without having to go through the whole regeneration procedure. Anyone know?
  • I store ours for 2 to 4 months at a time, I just regenerate it and store it. When we go on the road again I hit it with a shot of clorox when I'm sanitizing the system and that's it. No draining no nothing.
