I personally like that part to be as good as it can be... It is a pretty important part of the system.
As I stated in a previous post, common mild steel has a yield strength of at least 25,000 psi. A 2x2 solid shank is 4 square inches which computes to 100,000 lbs. YES the steel is of NO CONSEQUENCE when it has a safety factor of 10 or more.
