We seem to be experiencing some kind of electrical problem when connected to shore power only ( with the red wire (+) to the battery disconnected) when we turn on any 12 volt power source (15amp) the radio (Kenwood) will turn off and then a second or two later it will turn back on this happens with any 12volt circuit you choose the best I can tell is that the original radio harness which is located under the TV cabinet behind the pull out drawer is connect to the two 30amp “Polarity” fuses along with the propone and carbon monoxide sensors but if I reconnect the battery wire and turn on the battery disconnect switch while still being connected to the shore power the problem does not exist or just being on battery power alone the problem does not exist. I think my problem may be with the PARALLAX 7300 series model 7345 converter. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Yes i can use the battery disconnect switch each time but never did before.

Not sure I follow what you are doing. What exactly do you do when you turn on a 15 A 12 volt source? My unit has circuit breakers on the 115 VAC and fuses on the 12 vdc. If you are switching 115 VAC circuit breakers, it is possible that you have a source voltage dip. If you are plugging and unplugging fuses, it could be a loose connection. If this occurs when you turn on any 12 vdc lamp or whatever, it could be a loose wire or a failing converter. My first step would be to disconnect all power sources, and tighten connections. If you meant it happens when you switch any 15 a 115 VAC circuit breaker, also check your source. The problem sounds like a momentary dip or loss of voltage to the radio.

Curious as to why you are disconnecting the battery when plugged into shore power. That means the converter is not keeping the battery charged either....this is not a common practice nor advisable. You are creating the problem by doing this.

The truck & camper are stored in the garage together unplugged from shore power and with the battery disconnect switch in the store position. But when i go out to spend time in it i just plug it into the 30amp outlet (shore power) and go about my business that’s when i noticed the problem which i have never experience before. But when preparing for a camping trip I always go out three nights before leaving, plug into the 30amp outlet, turn on the propane and switch the battery disconnect switch to the use position, bleed the gas line at the cooktop and turn on the refrigerator and load the freezer with all of the pre frozen food and that is how it stays until we return home. If the converter is becoming weak if that is possible I guess I need to have it tested or just have it replaced with a more advanced model. I thank all of you for your input it was greatly appreciated.

When you switch on another 12v power draw the voltage drops momentarily and causes the Kenwood to see low voltage and power off, then when it sees 12v again it restarts.

OP, do you normally disconnect the battery every time you hook up to shore power?

Maybe I misread the OP ... The problem only occurs on shore power with the pos cable removed from batt. Why would you want to disconnect batt?

Leave shutoff switch on and batt connected. Doesn't seem to be an issue unless you force the conditions.

I guess you are maybe just suggesting that you believe your converter is getting weak. Maybe so. if you have cash replace I guess, but I bet it lasts a long time in its weakened state.

But it is getting hard to find dynamotors and vibrators to keep my tube sets working. Life really was simpler.

It may be that powering any other 12v device causes the voltage to sag, momentarily, under the threshold constant voltage of the radio. WAG
