Well my surge protector saved me one more time.

Well my surge protector saved me one more time. Stopped off at Galveston Island State park on the way home from the FMCA 6 state rally in Conroe. Plugged my Surge Guard in and got a reading of Reverse Polarity and bad ground. Called the office and they worked on it for a while then told me it was good. Well the Surge Guard was still giving me the same report. So I ended up moving to s different spot. I am still amazed at how many people tell me they never had a problem and don’t need a Surge Guard or some other protection for their rigs. This reminds me of the old saying “Pay me now or pay me latter” If you don’t have a Surge Guard you may be paying a lot latter.

Reversed polarity? Was this an AC or DC circuit?

    Surge Guard ...CG

AC...Yes Surge Guard will indicate when 'reverse polarity' is detected.

Hot and Neutral reversed. Neutral now HOT. Shock hazard/possible damage to appliances
  • If you dig at any of these sites you will find ancient burial grounds for forty years worth of rigs who didn't have the protection afforded by an EMS. Cross the Rio Bravo, with an EMS and prepare to boondock the whole trip because the device will shut down if you plug into a 15 amp receptacle.

We Neaderthals have to check outlets manually before plugging in, make our own earth ground then monitor a volt gauge occasionally to see what we can run. Converters tolerate low voltage and once they top off the battery it free's-up another few hundred watts for general usage.

Course the escalator don't work and hot water has to be heated by (gasp) LPG which means the thermlstat has to be turned down so (2nd gasp) there is no hot water at 0315 hours.

    It's intolerable I tell ya...

Hope this made you smile. :)
  • I am amazed how the parks are just indifferent to the issue as if we caused it :R
Then poor response to fix the issue.
