How cruel! Only four hours a day running a generator! What will I do for the other twenty hours? Without my generator running? What is permitted?

You need a higher capacity fuse no matter what else.

So start with a 40 amp fuse if you have the basic 35 amp model converter.

After that document brand and size and number of batteries and converter brand and model number. Ouija guesswork ain't where it's at.

30 amps was maybe big enuff for your old converter, but maybe not big enuff for you new higher output converter ?? Could this be why the fuse is blowing ?
At 11.8 no load voltage, your batteries are "dead", and the converter will be charging at maximum amperage. If your new converter is any larger than 30 amps, the fuse will blow. Most likely your new converter is 45 amp or larger. Replace the fuse w/ a 50 amp circuit breaker. The 8 ga wire may warm up just a bit for the first few minutes of charging, but it will be fine. If your charger is 60 amp, you mite be best to rewire from converter to batteries w/ 6ga.

What size converter? If you have a 60 amp converter attempting to charge depleted batteries thru a 30 amp fuse will never work.

The fuse must match or slightly exceed the converter output but the fuse must not exceed the rating of the wires.

if runnimg the converter and a battery charger you are overliading the curcuit one of them has to go away

repaired connector....all wiring is 8 AGW.

We will attempt to charge batteries this afternoon and let everyone know the results.

Look around the batteries for a corroded circuit breaker.
Do you have a mutlimeter?Remove fuse from distribution panel disconnect the battery. Read wire to insure it is not going to ground. If it islocate and repair.
Check umbilical cord connector end for pulled out wire. Disconnect red wire at rig. This could be issue found above.
Disconnect solar system and test.
Wire size is correct? What size?

New converter.

New batteries less than 4 months old.

Didn't mention that we are using 50 ft. of RV cord from generator in back of truck to batteries in trailer nearly 45 ft. away.

Trailer is a 2002. We've never used more than a 30 amp fuse and never had this problem with batteries charging.

No. You don't need remove any wires, as long as it's a 12v charger!
