- joebedfordNomad IIMy rig has a WFCO 68100 converter - 100amps. PD maxes out at 80amps.
If I put in an 80amp converter, I assume that in the rare case that I'm drawing 100amps the converter won't keep up and the batteries will discharge.
Would that damage anything? Like will the converter "blow a gasket" or something? - familyof3Explorer

And here I was assssssssuming the OP was talking about the 9275 Whiffco. The other models may be constructed different but are you declaring the 9255 of today to be different than the 9255 of eight years ago.
New one to me - I was not aware WFCO ever made a 9200 series converter
PD does has such a series
I have a few 8875 WFCO units that are wonderful both with the RCMS remote control enabling manual control of the output voltage. With LiFePo4 batteries acturate and fully controlled voltage becomes more of an issue.
Sorry for the incorrect number, I was looking at the 9280. Already got the 9280 ordered and on the way.:) Probley be next week before i get it. Gotta change out the plug from a 15 amp to a 20 amp plug anyway. Already have the 20 amp breaker. - KJINTFExplorer

Anyhoo thank you for the amplification. I think your comment clarifies what I may have added confusion to. A 2-watt fan does wonders for an open frame 9255. - KJINTFExplorer
When removed from their housing and a fan is blown onto their guts, the WFCO seems to enjoy a longer lifespan. Not practical for an RV, but great as a power supply. The WhiffCo is right from scratch a poorly laid-out circuit.
Mex I have to disagree with your statement - there are several different models / series of WFCO converters - some yes have the large bleeder resisters close to other components that are heat sensitive however other models are as good or in many cases a better design than many of the so called "Made in the USA" converters that use the very same low cost overseas supplied components.
I too collect used / defective converters, inverters and chargers and will happily pay shipping charges to get them here to tinker with. Seen dozens of the PD's and Iota's blown up even the Paramode's none of them are failure proof. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerWhen removed from their housing and a fan is blown onto their guts, the WFCO seems to enjoy a longer lifespan. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIWFCo has a reputation for low quality and short time between failures
Progressive Dynamics is the other end of the world (US MADE, Top Quality, with a rep for outlasting the RV in many cases.. Though there are some that one might argue are as good..NONE BETTER period.
NOTE if that WFCO is an integrated Power Panel/Converter (Fuses and breakers) a PDI 4600 Series.. Same as the 9200 but w/o the case.. May well replace just the electronics part without replacing the whole shebang. - otrfunExplorer IIInstalled a PD9260 about 8 months ago. Love it!
FWIW, I left my WFCO8955 installed. Simply paralleled the PD9260 3 ft. from my batteries. Use the WFCO8955 as backup. If/when I sell my current TT I can remove the PD9260 in less than 5 min. Charge current with batteries discharged to ~12.2v went from 18a with the WFCO8955 to 55-58a with the PD9260! - ScottGNomadEasy decision - go with the PDI.

Did he push the button?
I know a guy who has the 100 watt Wfco in his toy hauler. He has never seen 14 volts charging, even on very low batteries.
Manual Bulk Charging Switch
For AGM/Lead-Acid type of batteries, with a push of a button on the front
cover you can manually bring the converter to bulk charge mode.
