When removed from their housing and a fan is blown onto their guts, the WFCO seems to enjoy a longer lifespan. Not practical for an RV, but great as a power supply. The WhiffCo is right from scratch a poorly laid-out circuit.
Mex I have to disagree with your statement - there are several different models / series of WFCO converters - some yes have the large bleeder resisters close to other components that are heat sensitive however other models are as good or in many cases a better design than many of the so called "Made in the USA" converters that use the very same low cost overseas supplied components.
I too collect used / defective converters, inverters and chargers and will happily pay shipping charges to get them here to tinker with. Seen dozens of the PD's and Iota's blown up even the Paramode's none of them are failure proof.
