WFCO Please Describe The Operational Malfunctions

Do some of the critters not even attempt to switch into "boost" mode despite starting out at say, 12.2 volts? Or is it a threshold issue, where unusually low voltage is needed to trigger the boost mod...

I moved my WFCO 8955 next to the batteries and increased the bank from 2 gp 27s to 4 GC2s. Now it goes into boost just as described in the manual. However, I rarely use the converter now as the solar has satisfied all my power needs since it was installed. Here's a link to the WFCO mod.
