You might be working with "100% charged" 50 ampere hour batteries or maybe even less. That's what sulfate masking of plates does for a living.
I've seen 5 ampere hour group 27's. Boy they sure do charge (and discharge) fast.
Sorta like starting at a 2-quart can without a label and declaring "Well whatever it is -- that's dinner"
Run your gravities so you can avoid looking like Chief Inspector Clouseau :)
Thanks... well these batts were bought in summer of 2013. Im eventually going to 6 volt but not until these die...
I understand you saying they could be sulfated but I am not sure I could tell as they power all my high use stuff pretty well.. But I never really had a way to charge them correctly.
This is the first year with the new camper and the wfco and now the PD.
Ive had solar with old camper, but never maintained at home with the solar... just that 13.6 12 amp magnatech.
Although I removed batteries every year and put them on a wall wart charger. in a warmer environment.
I guess my testing of the 3 tests are not consistent... But im doing my best to understand.
My tests were...
1. Wfco @ 13.6 with #6 wire 20 ft.. 32 amp start..
2. Wfco in bulk mode ( Dont ask me how or why it went into that mode) 14.4 volts 2 - #6 wires (combined make #3) 64 amp start
3. This test. PD 4655. 14.4 volts 2- #6 wire ( combined to make #3 to 50 amp breaker. Then #3 from breaker to battery...52 amp start.
For what its worth I assume the community is misinformed. Where I read some postings about how the PD works wasnt true after all..
I read the unit will charge full amps until 14.4 is reached then start tapering... and go to 13.6 mode. ( Not true as I reached the 14.4 and it continued to charge. And the amps started tapering the first 15 minutes..) And when 14.4 was reached it didnt change modes but went off the standard 4 hour time limit...
Im not an electrician so I am not sure what this is telling me.
Sorry to bore anyone thats been down this road before... Its all new to me...
