Your batteries are in bad shape, as indicated by your hydrometer readings. The PD cannot fix that, having only 14.4v. You need some time at 16v to desulfate them, if it even can be done when they are that bad.
Can You help me understand what shows they may be sulfated? Should the charge cycle of got the hydrometer reading higher then the 80%. The batts do show 1275 when fully charged on the hydrometer.
Maybe you can post a link where I can read about sulfation on batteries, what I will see when charging.. Like cause and effect type thing...
Why did you replace the WFCO? I assume the charging vs capacity was not adequate.
I replace because I am a high use boondocker. Coffee maker, toaster oven, Tv.s, computer-phone charging.... etc.
And last trip of summer with grand kids and 8 people in the camper I ran the generator for 3-4 hours before bed and still awoke to 11.9 batts. Then same thing next day and awoke to 11 volt batts.
Sure the Iota sounds nice, but no button.. I was afraid if I bought the iota it maybe would not go into boost mode with say 60-70-% discharge...
And I didn't want to put a seperate charge somewhere and needed to utilize the current space in the wfco bottom end...
Using only the PD's 14.4, you can try hitting the CW boost button every four hours to hold at 14.4 for 12 hours to see if the SG does improve at all. If SG does come up some, then do it some more. Won't hurt anything to try it.
I assume if I do this monitor it until the amps stop moving?
I have that old charger that I can put on 50amp starting mode. That outputs 15.3 volts at that setting..
My solar controller goes as high as 15.5 volts but I need to get it into boost mode to do so. Otherwise the highest my solar will go in float is 14.5 volts...
