Question... I always bring batts inside during winter and put on wall wart... Should I leave them on the trailer this year and let the PD converter do its thing? It does get 5f -10f here in NJ at times...Do what's comfortable. If you have a good power source for the new converter, leave them on trailer. At low temps, the battery chemistry slows (less aging). A battery disconnect switch that eliminates hotel loads is a good thing.
I find that batteries sitting in the garage get more attention but I don't hook them up to tenders. I use various power supplies. I've not grown any fonder of schlepping batteries around, though.
BTW, didn't you have solar or was that on an older rig? IMO, Solar is the best storage solution if you can tilt the panel and the controller can be set for correct voltages. Even with an occasional covering snowfall, my tilted panel charges the batteries better than I can, manually.
