WFCO

WFCO country of origin China, PD USA if you have problems with PD they are in Michigan. Do a search "Problems WFCO" now do the same search for PD.

The PD does have a none to good power factor of 0.7. Anyone know where the IOTA fits with power factor?

Remove the front panels and the converter is in the lower slot. If by chance you have a deck mount just remove four more screws and pull the entire panel out for access. No need for cooktop removal.

Thought I was the only one doing that.

My WFCO went out while camping one hot summer day. By the time I noticed, the battery had dropped too low to keep the A/C and fridge controls on.

Made it through the night on some portable fans we carry. Charged the battery back up and made it through the last 2 days. Installed a PD and never had another problem.

The old WFCO is still on my electronics bench. Mounted it on a piece of plywood and attached to the wall. Added a volt gauge from a boat and a wall switch box for power. Have used it that way for years.

I'll bet Regressive Dynamics gets most of it's stuff from inside honorable great wall. Sub assembled boards and toroids, maybe logic from Singapore or Thailand. Ask the company "Is any component of this charger made in China?" Or better yet "Is the PC board and discrete components 100%. 50%, 10% made-in USA?

My PD 808 is 45 years old and is running perfectly. I can't compare it to my own WFCO because I've never owned one.

To date, I have replaced 7 WTFCO's. Two got Xantrex XADC 40. Great converter, too bad they quit making them. Two with Xantrex TrueCharge 40 and 60. Also great but expensive as they have temp compensation, power factor correction and are somewhat programmable. The last 3 got PD which walk all over the WTFCO when boondocking and in long term storage.

why not ask if their charger will return sg to top level in a day or so.

someone posted their WFCO took 4 or 5 days to get close but no cigar! they used their touted freas glassworks floater IIRC!

My 11 year old TT came with a WFCO 45a. A lightning strike took it out after 3 years. It was replaced with a WFCO 55a and it has been running for the last 8 years. They work, may not be as good as the PD but they work.
