WH Causing a Leak?

WH causing a leak??? way to funny. I saw that and immediately thought "White House causing a leak"... you've got to think about that. You'll see the humor too.

California was just for 2 years to shape up a property for sale. In Nevada permanently now. Previously in central Colorado, so winterized two or three times a year. Will need to here as well.

Need to update signature.

Why don't you just tighten the fitting and stop it form leaking now or later

They are just hand tightened begin with.

Don't look for complicated reasons.

Yes in CA I drain the RV water heater same as my home.... never.
Expansion tank provides a permanent air pocket. BTW my home has an expansion tank also.

Time2roll" mentioned an expansion tank..not really needed with an RV water heater because of the built in air pocket. Exactly why it is there.

Kind of a ridiculous statement,...the air pocket IS NOT built in,....its not there,... you have to put it there quite often, and most RV'ers don't do that,
and that's why these excessive pressure problems come up. But, a leak should not happen before the pressure relief opens, so the leak should be fixed.

IMO, RV MFGs should be forced by code to make a small bladder tank part of the water system in all RVs. Until then, if you don't have one in your water system, install one. Normally they are not hard to install, and will serve more than 1 useful purpose.

An expansion tank will, however, keep the pump from running every time a tap is opened.

I see the OP is from California...a state where many people have no need to winterize. If you don't drain the water heater down on occasion (taken care of by winterizing) like Chris said above, over time the air cushion in the top pocket of the WH gets absorbed by the water and will cause that issue when the water heats and expands with no place to go except by pushing out through a fitting. "Time2roll" mentioned an expansion tank..not really needed with an RV water heater because of the built in air pocket. Exactly why it is there.

Yes. Mine did same hidden at the water pump. Dealer never did find it... I had to dig. Small expansion tank (and a new fitting) resolved the issue permanently. I recommend any closed hot/cold water system should have an expansion tank.
