If EFOY-like fuel cells got reasonably priced, then things will radically change.
Right now, unless I have at least a battery bank that is 400+ amp-hours, a residential fridge will mean more generator noise. However, if fuel cells drop in price, they would produce more than enough charge to keep a battery bank topped off, even if the charge from the solar bank was insufficient that day. If a fuel cell got into the $1000 or even $2000 range, it would be a must have for most RVs because it would finally allow for an all electric fridge without having to have a large battery bank and solar charging system. Fuel cells are not 100% quiet, but they are definitely less noisy than a generator.
