What does this burned furnace wire tell you?

I'm unclear as to how you're associating the brake controller and the trailer's furnace. :h The brake controller wiring doesn't have anything to do with the trailer's internal 12 vdc system ... it's powered by the tow vehicle and it's output is routed to the trailer's brakes, nowhere else.
