My thoughts too. Faulty connector crimps create resistance to current flow which results in hot connections.
Why would it just be working great in very dry Arizona, then suddenly fry? I'm going to trim and reconnect. Can I use a simple crimp connector? Does it have to have feet on it like the one that is in there now? I think they're called butt-connectors (the one I want to put in.
