I suppose the higher Float voltage is to counter a higher self-discharge rate, which would occur with a higher "full" SG. ( ISTR they have stonger acid lately)
Generally, high SG batts have: more capacity, shorter life, are smaller, higher momentary discharge rates, less adaptable in "floating" operation, more standing loss. (Than lower SG batts.)
I forget why deep cycle batts don't like floating so much--with higher SG more stratification? Another reason to raise Float voltage? Anyway, still need to do a good stirring session every so often--do a deep cycle to exercise the battery, or run an equalize.
