Have to remember that when they change the oil at the dealer the truck sits level on a lift. When do do it in your garage with the front up on ramps or jackstands, it's now sitting on an angle...so when the oil runs straight down, it's actually running toward the rear of the truck.

When I change the oil on the burb, I have to remove the splash shield...but the filter sits right about the front axle and tie rod, so oil hits those as it drips down and runs everywhere, just no way to stay clean doing that job.,...

Yep - my friend owns a quicklube and they drop the trans pan and the pan under the motor. As do I.

Honestly, it's not that bad. Just awkward laying on your back while doing it. The funnel thing under the oil filter, with two outlets, is the culprit. If it only dropped it out the front it would be great, but no, it has to drop it out the back too - right on top of the pan under the motor.

That's what the square rubber pieces are for - allowing the oil to finish draining out of there. It would almost be worth it to put an oil filter relocation kit on it so I didn't have to deal with it any more.

The rear plate must come off to drain the oil from the oil pan. I took mine off and left it off.

The front plate does not come off without removing many, many fasteners. I tried to take off the front plate and didn't find it easy at all. There is a filter access point driver side front right behind the front bumper and the square cover that fell off. Open the front access point and reach your hand up to grad the filter. An oil wrench is close to impossible to use there.

There is an oil drip pan under the oil filter intended to direct the oil from the filter port towards the front but it doesn't work. It fills until the oil flows over and out the square hole. It's a mess.

This has been my experience anyway.

I have asked some quick lube guys if they have discovered the trick to changing the oil in an F150 EB and they all said it makes a mess and then they clean it up after the job.

You can twist it back on. The opening will be located on the driver side under the engine.

Bingo. It lets oil flow through the "skidplate" that sits below the motor/trans.

I take my entire plate off prior to draining oil, makes life much easier.

No "rules" were broken. Some responders were just having some fun. RV'ing is suppose to be fun. None of the above responses were out of line, rude, or inappropriate.

Most likely a cover for the oil filter. Lots of Dodge Chargers had something like that under them. Take the little cover off to get to the oil filter.

Daughter's Subaru has a panel like that with a similar little access point. About can't get a wrench on the filter and drain plug with it in place. And when I do, the oil doesn't oblige by coming out only through that hole. I just take the whole thing off.

Thanks for the answer. The truck only has 2000 miles on it, so I've never seen the bottom.
