USE WIFI and load it up with apps before you take it back to Mexico
"swiss knife" is a great utility. with scientific calculator, flashlight , and even a Magnifier all in one app
turn on magnifier and the camera lens is used to display what ever you want to examine in a macro magnified way, you don't even need a microscope any more
yahoo email, used to let you send text msg to phone numbers, not sure if the option is still available
last month i used "goggle acct" connection via wifi internet to send text msgs to a friend, while we were camping at a beach with NO cell signal..his return msg came to my "google voice" free ph number
but the campground had free wifi internet for campers...NO netflix allowed
i can't send to an international number
but i can send to any USA number - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerThat device is like handing an adding machine to a chimpanzee. I promise to hire my 13-year old grandaughter to tutor me. Can I buy a memory card and stick it in my ear? I need memory a lot more than the device. Studying the several hundred page manual I see that the device processes speech to make it clearer YAY! I can also plug in a set of over-the-ear headphones and hear speech like it is supposed to be heard - with the processor Hurrah! The kids can send me pictures. Yay again. But TelMex will not allow me to send text messages to my US doctors. Somehow this thing can show images to a computer monitor. I'm sure there's a way to set the camera to macro and blow it up big screen. Too bad I don't have a big screen. Maybe later. Then again the device sitting on a work bench scares me.
When I get nonplussed my inability to deal with digital complexities I'll drag my knuckles over to the oscilloscope and power supply.
You have my publicly announced promise. if I should drop the device, I'll be under it when it lands.
I don't even know what to call it.....you got a little testy when I referred to it as a cellular. Is that a faux paus? I'm out of my league on this stuff... - ddndougExplorer

ddndoug - you really need to add a crescent wrench (a.k.a. crescent hammer) to that set.
It's funny you mention a "crescent" wrench, the tool set is made by Crescent. And I do actually have two adjustable (or crescent) wrenches, one big enough to accommodate a hitch ball mount. My hatchet doubles as a hammer if those aren't big enough. lol
Oh yeah, and a torque wrench.

Now my "lab room" back home is a different story. WiHa and Excel-Lite to to max. Snap-On, crescent, Vise Grip, you name it. But it doesn't have wheels. Resistance soldering, instruments and machinery to the max. Glad I got it in back then because Customs restrictions are a nightmare now.
Yeah, and to think you'll be sneaking all the brain power of a Galaxy S2 across the border sometime next week, in your pocket, for free. Get a 16 Gig Micro SD card for it before you go back, at Staples or Office Depot or where ever they are on sale, before going home, and slip it in the slot. One day, you'll need the added memory. About $9.99 I think.
Yes, I think a Samsung Galaxy S2 is a very, very powerful tool. Don't leave home without it. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerNow my "lab room" back home is a different story. WiHa and Excel-Lite to to max. I don't carry quite as many tools as MR WIZARD ...
Harbor Freight doesn't either.
thats funny - atreisExplorerSmall toolbox with hammer, sockets (only the few needed for wheel lugs, and the other socketable things actually found in the trailer), adjustable wrench (in case I miss any), screwdriver with various tips, long-handled philips and straight screwdrivers, needle nose pliers with wire cutter, 12' tape measure, utility knife, basic multimeter, trailer wiring tester, fuses of the various sizes and styles found in the trailer and TV, teflon pipe thread tape, 1" gorilla tape, couple lengths of 12 gauge automotive wire.
The whole kit weighs 12 lbs, and the items were selected for their specific usefulness and are all high quality (mostly US-made) tools.
The TV contains an additional kit of its own (not high quality) with a couple more pliers, screwdrivers, and jumper cables. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIDuct tape, WD-40, and a MasterCard.

Ditto, same here... 21 foot travel trailer can't haul too much junk. Add in a bottle jack for flats, haven't had one yet.
