What makes a light fixture 12v DC vs. 120v AC?

Looking at the paucity of choices in 12v fixtures for my new van build, I am wondering if I can repurpose 120v fixtures. What is the difference? Just the bulb? I cannot see why the electrons wo...

Since you are not familiar with the difference between 12 volt DC and 120 volt AC better go buy the correct fixture designed for that voltage.
There is night and day diffence between those two.
