What makes a light fixture 12v DC vs. 120v AC?

Looking at the paucity of choices in 12v fixtures for my new van build, I am wondering if I can repurpose 120v fixtures. What is the difference? Just the bulb? I cannot see why the electrons wo...

Great find, mr wizard! I see from the reviews that nany people have the remote fail after a few uses. And I don't need another remote to keep track of :). Maybe a dimmer switch hardwired....
