Feb 24, 2025What propane fitting is that?
Trying to figure out if I have 1/4 or 3/8 quick disconnect on my RV propane tank.
The bigger opening measures 1/2" accross. Do you know how to tell?

It's kind of a gamble when dealing with Amazon. Most of the people selling things seem to have absolutely no idea what they are actually selling.
When they say it's a 1/4 in quick connect they could mean the threaded portion. Or they could mean the outside Diameter of the hose portion of the fitting. Usually a good vendor will have a picture with measurements that you can use to determine if you are looking at the correct part.
If you are tight on time and if have Prime you might just buy both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit.
Yes, I check the pictures but cheaper listings dont have images with measurements. They all seem to be mostly selling propane hoses to connect between RV quick disconnect and a grill, so pretty sure its all the same thing throughout. I just need an extra adapter from the grill end to what this stove requires. Amazon often disallows returns on any propane related stuff, by the way.
just buy a natural gas or propane quick connect. the 1/2" 1/4 and 3/8th are for the threaded part of the pipe it attaches to
Are you saying the actual connectors are going to be all the same? A few on Amazon specify 1/4 quick connect. I guess I can order 1/4 quick connect and hope it fits, but only got one chance to order something before propane job in late March
ys the rv ones are usually a 1/4" quick connect, make sure they are gas quick connects and not air compressor quick connects.
