It's going to be difficult to determine the health of the one battery that had electrolyte remaining. Chances are, it is not in good shape either. If it was me and I needed a pair of reliable batteries, I'd replace them both. In fact, if you have the height room, I'd move up to two 6V golf cart batteries. They withstand more abuse.
