Call local golf car shops or ask to talk to the pro at a local golf course. The objective is to find the least expensive Trojan T-105 batteries. My regard for alternative brands is near nil. The Trojans are not cheap but neither is a vacation.
GC 220 batteries need an additional couple of inches of height space but they will fit fine where the 27's were. Clarify beforehand the need to connect the batteries in series. A jumper cable between the two batteries.
I just received a SailMail from a cruiser in Fiji who has a bunch of 6-month old "warehouse" batteries that went belly-up on his Ketch. He is either experienced or nuts for doing the puddle jump this late in the season. His thoroughness in explaining exactly how the battery problems unfolded is yet another indictment against cheapo golf car batteries. Playing games with batteries is fine until a person gets several thousands of miles away from home.
