Whats Zapping my inverter

I’ve got s small 300W PSW I run off of my shore power cord. I know before using I shut off the converter breaker, put fridge to gas, and make sure nothing high wattage is plugged into an outlet.

Despite checking off all three of these I ocassionally blow fuses when I go to plug it in. What am I missing?

  • What inverter? Some do not like battery negative tied to the 120v ground.
    Has it worked before?

confused. What fuses are you blowing? an inverter changes DC power into AC power. Inverter is connected to the battery. Converter changes AC power to provide DC power and charges battery.
  • When plugging in there is inrush current. If the capacitors are discharged, from the inverter not being plugged in for some time, it will be greater.

What is the fuse rating on the outlet?

Whether this is the problem, I'm not sure. But it may be a factor.
  • Overload protection shut down is not by blowing a fuse AFAIK. Perhaps there is a fault in the wiring of your 30/15 adapter that is plugged into the inverter. A fault that occurs when it is twisted a certain way, but other times is ok?
  • What type of DC fuse does the inverter take? Can you substitute a slow-blow same amperage?
