Read the sticky at the start of this thread on the EU2000I carburetor. Well written with photos. If you don't want to wait to take it back follow the sticky. I bet it will get you going. When they are hard to start and run rough out of the box it's a dirty carb.
After a while if that happens it can be the carb, spark plug, or old fuel. That usually shows up after a few years of infrequent use.
