Where is my shoreline charge controller?

Hi All,
I picked up a new 'used' 2008 Shockwave 28FLSPL 5th wheel and when plugged in to shore power, it is pulling approx 328 amps. I have 2- 6 volt batteries and they are not charging (very well?).
Where do I find the controller and how do I determine if that is what is charging the batteries? I ask if it is charging the batteries because there is also a solar panel and charge controller in the camper.
Thanks!
Mike
  • Many of the converters are located adjacent to the 120/240-volt circuit breakers.
Some are located on floor behind power distribution panels.
328 amps must be an incorrect reading.
  • 328? Call the fire department! Just kidding - The common 3 wire RV plug is 30A AC max.

Typical chargers are 50A DC or less for the 12V house and batteries.
  • Hi Mike,
Where or how are you seeing 328 amps? That sounds excessive.

The charge controller is typically in the same housing as all the fuses and breakers. You might have to pull the from of the fuse panel off to look. Make sure you take a picture of the fuses before you start removing fuses so you can put them back where they belong when finished.
