I put it inside the refer cover just above the lowest vent - it is out of the weather and secure. When the refer is operating, it pulls air from outside over the sensor, rendering a fairly accurate outdoor temp.
The only time it is off is when we are setting, with the sun glaring directly on that side of the RV. It's worked fine for many years for us.
