Which Grill Guard To Get???

I have a 2013 Ford F-250 and am looking for a grill guard to protect the front of the vehicle during a minor to moderate impacts, like if I where to hit a deer out in the middle of nowhere for instance. The two Grill Guards I'm interested in are the Ranch Hand Legend Grill guard, and the Cattleman Grill guard (1356p-1). They both look good and are both around the same price. The Cattleman looks like it will give more side protection, but I don't know.
Does anyone have one of these of something similar installed of on their truck and can tell me the pros/cons about these. I'm looking forward to get mine on this upcoming Thursday or Friday.

Thanks.
  • I see a lot of Ranchhand products in the Hill Country of Texas. Those things are really heavy. Haven't seen one yet that was bent or twisted from hitting something...

    X2...

Besides being very heavy and strong, mine has a 2" receiver too, which has come in handy a few times.
  • I purchased the Ranchhand bumper/grill. Just because of the welded tab connecting the headlight tubing and the bumper out on each end (extra strength, hopefully if ever needed).
I discovered a minor problem later, after install. There is about a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the grill and the top of the Ranchhand bumper. Small rocks were entering thru and bending fins behind the grill.
Added strip of expanded metal with bolts to cover this area.
Does not interfere with opening hood.
    Hope this is helpful!

I would be sure the grill guard doesn't interfere with the raising of the hood on your Ford truck before buying especially when buying on-line.

Made many runs between Wichita falls and Greenville MS on US82 in my working years. Arkansas was always loaded down with deer at night...
