The only way that can happen is if you purposely short an AGM and overload it, and it's dirt cheap to prevent shorts using fuses - I double fused my own application. I get the impression from your comments that you aren't familiar with AGM batteries at all. They don't need or require containers or venting and are rated for use safely inside any enclosure - even mounted upside down. That's why they're used exclusively in aviation and why they are the best choice for applications inside occupied enclosures.
