Which is better - (3) 12v batteries vs (2) 6v batteries

I am looking to replace an old coach battery with AGM batteries for boondocking usage. I have space for (3) 12 volt group 24s without having to do any modifications, but could also just use 2 of the b...

Trying to compare Optimas to other AGMs has problems. I suggest we focus on battery weights instead of model or grp #s.

Let's compare a 53.8lb Optima Model D27M to a 53lb DieHard Platinum Marine Battery - Group Size 34M.

spec - Optima - Sears
AH - 66 - 68
CCA - 800 - 880
Wght - 53.8 - 53

Virtually identical with a slight edge to Sears. They both are more starting batteries by design.
