- brulazExplorerWe've started using Verizon's prepaid data plan with our tablet when in the US. US$100 for 10gb, good for 2 months only.
After a few months away we may have to re-connect for $35, dunno. - gmctoymanExplorerI’d have to guess the correct answer to the question is either the Koreans, or Chinese .
- vermilyeExplorer IIIt depends on where you are going to use it. The lowest cost plan won't do you any good if there is no coverage where you are at. I have both AT&T & Verizon data devices (a Mobley & a Jetpack). While the Jetpack usually has better coverage in the middle of nowhere, AT&T isn't all that bad this year. In the past, not so good, but I've found more & more places where the AT&T service is faster & more dependable for streaming.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer II5 Gig? I am currently at 52.5 Gig for the month and I am only on day 15!
You have to know what you need before you can make a determination about what will work for you.
I am lucky to have the AT&T Mobley with an unlimited plan for $20/month. I am about to leave Verizon after about 15 years for T-Mobile and their 55+ plan. They just added a buy one get one free offer for the Samsung S9 and that will just be icing on the cake. - garmpExplorer IIWe carry an AT&T and a Verizon hot spot. Virtually stopped using the Verizon because of our usage. We generally go on the road every other month or less. The last time we went to renew our Verizon they wanted $35.00 reconnection fee. AT&T $0.00. Guess which we use? We generally get 5gb for a month and last two week plus trip ran out of data twice.
I think Verizon and AT&T have the best networks, but am always looking for a cheaper data plan. Whose towers does Straight Talk use? Might be worth while looking into. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer II

FMCA has a $50 a month Verizon Wireless hotspot plan. The hotspot is free. They say unlimited gigs, but they start throttling above 25g.
If you're already a Verizon customer, don't try to get this put onto your existing account. That's 6 hours of my life I'll never get back. I ended up creating a new account with my DW's email for the hotspot.
On the Verizon/FMCA plan they don't "start to throttle" above 25GB. At 25GB there is a HARD THROTTLE to 2G speeds or less. - jplante4Explorer IIFMCA has a $50 a month Verizon Wireless hotspot plan. The hotspot is free. They say unlimited gigs, but they start throttling above 25g.

I can be my own hot spot as long as I have cell service which is almost every where.
I simply go to my hot spot, blue tooth it to my iMAC and I am good to go internet :)
Cable at home goes out, no problem. - GordonThreeExplorer

Hi GordonThree,
Last year I had 4g coverage from T-Mobile in Saskatchewan. I did not get a chance to try it in other provinces as they cut me off. Of course, it could be different this year.
I can't speak to Mexico.
Just sharing what I've read in the be terms of service. Don't have direct experience. - 2oldmanExplorer II
