I agree with the first part, but that sucking the faucet, should not be necessary, unless a roach is trapped in the line.
Also don't be afraid to let the pump run dry for a bit, waiting for it to prime. It will not harm it.
Jerry - Check your settings in the wet bay. You may be feeding water from the tank to the tank.
