I think you are saying when you release the catch and pull down on the cord, that only one side comes down and the other side is stuck together.
I have had that, but can yank on the stuck outer arm part, or use a crowbar, and it then all comes free and good to go from there.
You can also have an issue with raising the awning and one or both sides won't let the outer arm and the inner arm fit together once it is up, so you can engage the holder(s). You have to climb on a stand, and snap the two arms together by hand so the holder will go across to engage.
For the latter problem, you have to go to the upper end of the awning by the roof line, and undo the screws at each end, and slide the top over so the outer and inner arms line up, then tighten the screws up there.
For the situation first mentioned that the one end won't come down while the other end does, it might be the same thing. Not so sure about that. I can always yank it free, but it goes up ok.
