X2....the top of the arms sit in a channel, you need to lift the arm to clear the channel then pull the top away from the RV.
NO they do not. Correctly installed Awnings do not rest on the top. Now, 40 years ago, That was true when they did not have Cam Locks to lock the awnings retracted. You never have to lift the arm to extend or retract. Doug
My 1973 Terry had that kind of awning.
