Will a 1000watt Yamaha generator charge battery?

With a standard charger a thousand watt Honda is worth 20-amperes maximum charger rate. With a Mickey-Mouse converter, who knows, but it's going to be less not more. Chargers work with voltage PEAKS, around 164 volts and your Honda is going to have nowhere near that. Connecting the charger through a 140 volt tops VARIAC would help but that's about all you can do.
