will frig drain battery

I stopped at my daughters place in Jax Fl on way south. Have my frig running on gas. 19' TT with one battery. Battery fully charged before leaving fri and should be full. No usage other than frig on lp and maybe CM detector.

Question : Do it need to worry about battery going down in 2 and 1/2 days? I could take it out and charge it but not convenient to plug in due to tight quarters at my daughters house.

Question2: I disconnected from the TV power because I did not want to drain TV battery, but could hook back up if that would help.

thanks

  • I will check the voltage in the AM. Will have to remove the battery to charge because I can't get it close enough to plug into a/c with 20 adapter. TV is 2013 f150 so I guess drain is not an issue but I disconnected it anyway. Thanks for the info
  • Get and adapter and a 10Ga extension cord and plug in the trailer as long as you are not using an AC...
I plug ours into an extension cord plugged into a conventional 20A circuit in the garage.
  • Check the battery voltage each AM.....if 12.4V put a portable charger on battery and recharge (truck would take WAY too long to supply a proper charge).
  • If you have the common Dometic or Norcold two way reefer, you will be fine if you have a good battery that's fully charged.

Depending on the truck the connection between the trailer and TV may or may not disconnect with the truck turned off, so disconnecting may or may not make a difference. Later model Fords automatically disconnect the power to trailer when turned off; I don't remember which others do or don't disconnect.

  • Yes it will. About 17AH a day so on a full 85AH battery to stay above 50% (42AH) you get 2 1/2 days.

If 7-pin connected your TV batt will get drawn down too if it is a Chev. If a Ford it won't but also nothing will reach the fridge either unless you leave the ignition on (don't)
  • My Norcold needs 12 volt power to work. There are two small fans helping to exhaust the warm air, and an electronic readout on the door. So there is a battery drain on mine.

I have also read that the main circuit board uses some power too.
